چکیده

The failure of plasma-sprayed thermal barrier coatings (TBCs) during service is usually related to the cracking behavior. In this study, TBCs were prepared with two kinds agglomerated sintered yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ) powders different particle sizes. evolution mechanical properties and crack propagation behavior whole life stage studied by a shock test. effect powder size on was analyzed from aspect pore structure, properties, stress state coatings. coalescence in direction parallel substrate coating main factor leading spalling shock. Although fine YSZ has higher fracture toughness, lower strain tolerance will increase driving force tip shock, cracks propagate merge at faster rate larger porosity coarse help suffer less existence pores reduces toughness certain extent, growth coating, so longer life.

Thermal Conductivity Analysis and Lifetime Testing of Suspension Plasma-Sprayed Thermal Barrier Coatings

Suspension plasma spraying (SPS) has become an interesting method for the production of thermal barrier coatings for gas turbine components. The development of the SPS process has led to structures with segmented vertical cracks or column-like structures that can imitate strain-tolerant air plasma spraying (APS) or electron beam physical vapor deposition (EB-PVD) coatings. Additionally, SPS coa...

Air Plasma Sprayed Bond Coat Oxidation Behavior and its Resistance to Isothermal and Thermal Shock Loading

An experimental investigation was conducted to find the effect of spraying method of coating of Thermal Barrier Coatings (TBCs) on their oxidation behaviour and resistance to various thermal loading. Isothermal and thermal shock tests were performed in order to study oxidation behaviour of air plasma sprayed Bond Coat (BC) and assess its effect on TBCs lifetime under the stated loadings. Specim...

Monitoring Delamination of Plasma-Sprayed Thermal Barrier Coatings by Reflectance-Enhanced Luminescence

Highly scattering plasma-sprayed thermal barrier coatings (TBCs) present a challenge for optical diagnostic methods to monitor TBC delamination because scattering attenuates light transmitted through the TBC and usually degrades contrast between attached and delaminated regions of the TBC. This paper presents a new approach where reflectance-enhanced luminescence from a luminescent sublayer inc...
